As the political primaries draw to a close and what promises to be one of the most heated election cycles in US history begins to unfold I am reminded of the words attributed to Judge M.B. Gerry who presided over the April 6, 1883 trial of Alferd Packer. Packer, as you may remember, was tried and convicted of cannibalism.
“Stand up yah voracious man-eatin’ sonofabitch and receive yir sintince. When yah came to Hinsdale County, there was siven Dimmycrats. But you, yah et five of ’em, goddam yah. I sintince yah t’ be hanged by th’ neck ontil yer dead, dead, dead, as a warnin’ ag’in reducin’ th’ Dimmycratic populayshun of this county. Packer, you Republican cannibal, I would sintince ya ta hell but the statutes forbid it.”
I hope that neither of our candidates sees this as a way to reduce the opposition.
Remember to vote early and vote often.
he he he 😂 😂 😂 it does seem like events on the Republican side of the election are a tad… savage 😆😆 if for no other reason than Trump’s sense of humor! I remember my high school global history teacher playing episodes of The Apprentice back in ’02-’03; “you’re fired.” XD
Hope you’re well! 😀
Thanks for your comment. All is well in this little slice of Heaven we call Waller County, Texas.
