LUTFFor all of you following this, you both know that the project is to draw two numbers at random and then post whatever appears on those pages. until the entire book has been “given” away.  The book does follow a story arc, which will not be apparent by reading random selections.  For those interested there is the “look inside” feature on Amazon.  Today’s drawing was sort of weird.  Two consecutive pages, 41 & 42, both concerning dogs.  Oh well, who am I to question the fates.  Here goes:


Hey you, Fat lady,                                                                                                                            I’ll bet that little silver poodle                                                                                                Never eats from a garbage can.

Well, I Do



A squeal of brakes.

Terminal thud.

Damp inquisitive nose nuzzling cold teats.

A taste of mother’s milk commingled with blood.

Whimpering, tail tucked.

Slinking back into the safety of the alley.

Sudden weaning.

The first bitter lesson

In the short, sad life of the street dog.
